DCM1: Heat complete, replaced 20x20x1 filter. System is fully functional and operating within manufacturer specifications at this time. Refrigerant pressures and temperatures are appropriate for indoor and outdoor weather conditions. Found there is no surge protector on outdoor system, due to Rheem having a known issue of drive boards failing when voltage drops recommend investing in a surge protector that monitors voltage spikes and drops. Unable to add union to drain line due to how close p-trap is to coil exit port, recommend upgrading drain to be able to clean sludge out of drain line and ensure proper drainage. System does not have an SS2 water safety, there is a drain pan switch but adding an SS2 would shut system off before water overflowed primary drain pan if drain line did clog.
Toni.noble@comcast.net homeowners email. Upon arrival homeowner showed me thermostat code A954-0 Smart thermostat, suction failure. Turned system off so thermistors would be the same temperature as outdoor temperature, Ohmd through outdoor suction line thermistor, using a 10k thermistor chart found that thermistor is reading the correct temperature. Checked placement of suction line thermistor and found it placed on the liquid line, this was causing the thermistor to read incorrect temperature when the system heats and flashing the thermostat code. Removed thermistor from liquid line and placed it on the suction line, insulated thermistor and secured all lose wires. Tested system in high heat, code is no longer flashing. Need to return to complete maintenance on system.
