I was very happy with their diagnostic skills and now I’m just waiting on a quote to repair the unit. I got same-day service and even though it took a while for them to diagnose the problem I was still only charged the 75 diagnostic fee.
Removed old furnace control board and installed new. Tested system, system is heating at this time amp draws are in range temperature split is appropriate. Let system run until meeting the indoor temperature. Offered homeowner maintenance plan, she agreed to do it told her office would reach out to her about scheduling. Furnace control board is operating properly at this time.
Removed control board and installed new control board, connected control board to outdoor unit and thermostat. Getting a fault on the control board, checked dc voltage between pins 3 and 4 only getting .065 should be around .9. Confirmed problem with apex. Called part in and told homeowner shop would call him and get him on the schedule.
DCM2: Heat complete, replaced 16x25x1 and 20x25x1 filters. Both systems are fully functional and operating within manufacturer specifications at this time. 0ppms of carbon monoxide in the home. Maintenance checklist attached.
Upon arrival furnace was locked out reset system and turned on heat, system went out on high limit. Checked filter, filter is clean. Checked all return and supply vents all were open. Checked dampers and noticed damper to master bedroom was not opening. Cut into duct to be able to see inside of the damper, damper was in the closed position. Reached inside damper and moved damper to the open position. Wired damper back to zone board and damper started open and close properly, damper is beginning to stick closed. Asked homeowner if he wanted me to leave the damper open and unwired or wire back damper, homeowner decided to keep damper unwired. Homeowner is aware that by doing this he will have heat going through that zone if any other thermostat is calling regardless if the master bedroom thermostat is off/not calling. Checked heat rise getting 55* split. System is no longer going out on high limit. Need to send estimates over and see if homeowner wants to do (1) 12in damper replacement
Arrived to thermostat showing code A929-0, checked 240 to outdoor unit had 240, reset systems turned indoor and outdoor units off for 5mins before powering back up thermostat still had code. Checked E1 to E2 had 3.1dcv checked E1 to common had 3.2dcv checked E2 to common had 74.2dcv board has failed. Called apex ordered part will have to get homeowner back on the schedule to replace board. DCM2: Heat complete, replaced 16x25x1 and checked 16x25x4 filters. Both systems are fully functional and operating within manufacturer specifications at this time. 0ppms of carbon monoxide in the home. Due to age of mainfloor furnace multiple part failure is possible at anytime. Checked heat exchangers, exchangers look appropriate. Maintenance checklist attached.

Warranty Description - Dobbs Club Member 2 Year Part and Labor Non Club Member 1 Year Part and Labor Commercial 1 Year Part and Labor Lead time-Unknown Part will have to be order straight from Rheem factory as it is not in stock anywhere else, there is not an expected arrival date at this time. Replaced warranty blower motor, cycled unit, operating properly.
Performed 3 System Heat maintenance, all 3 systems operating properly at this time.
Arrived to control board flashing code 68 meaning, no communication to the blower. Turned system off and back on to reset it, fault code appeared immediately. Removed line voltage connector from the motor and tested for voltage between pins 4 and 5 was getting 116 volts. Removed motor control connector from furnace control board then used thermostat wire from R terminal and C terminal and plugged into motor control connector pins 3 and 4. Verified 24 volts with needle leads blower motor was not turning on blower motor has failed and needs to be replaced. Once the blower motor is replaced will be able to see if the system is operating properly could have other issues however won’t know until blower motor is replaced. Motor is not locked up however there is high resistance when manually spinning It. System was installed in 2020 not sure if system is under warranty through Dobbs heating and air will have to reach out to the shop in the morning.
DCM1: Heat complete, checked 16x20x4 filter. System is fully functional and operating within manufacturer specifications at this time.
